Meet Gauri

The smell of freshly-baked bread wafted through the living room. An 8 year-old Gauri, filled with curiosity, jumped from the couch and followed the smell to the kitchen. There she saw her aunt filling golden-domed breads with a smooth white-cloudy filling – she was making a choux pastry. As she popped one into her mouth, the whipped cream oozed out from the soft yet crispy bread, that so effortlessly melted in her mouth, leaving her yearning for more; she was hooked. Going to her aunt’s house to satisfy her sweet tooth was the only thing she looked forward to. From chocolate fondues to chocolate cakes, her aunt introduced her to the “world of sweets”. . .


As she grew older, baking desserts became one of her hobbies. She loved trying out new recipes only to be able to gorge on the end results. She vividly recalls the first time she tried making macarons. She was incredibly nervous as she’d heard that these delicacies were one of the toughest to master. Since there were no stores close to her to satisfy her cravings, she really did not want to give up. To her surprise, the macarons turned out much better than she had expected. And from that point on, there was no giving up. It wasn’t long before she went from baking simple desserts such as chocolate chip cookies and  marshmallows, to more complicated pastries such as eclairs , opera cakes and her personal favorite, entremets.


Over the years, she has come to realize that baking desserts is no longer just a fun activity for her, it’s her true calling, her passion and her therapy, as she is able to achieve complete peace when she bakes. And this is how Better Butter Bakes was born.
